Sardeens in a can

Road a bus for lie 45 min and got to one of the most popular markets for Chinese New Years, it was packed
- Cute little Asian kids shoes.... we stood there for lie 5 mins trying to think of someone we knew who had a kid we could buy them for : )

S- Can you say crowded??? Oh my goodness it was like a really funny train I held on to Kaley's backpack and maggie fearlessly led us through this incredible mob we moved like 5 inches every couple of minutes!
S- This guy was so neat he had candy and he had different customers blow onto the candy to form something  So this girl blew on the the candy and made an elephant it was sooo cool!

Happy New Years.. and all that that implies!

K- Yes Kasia! It is the Culligan mans water spout in all the way here and as the sign clearly says "believe it or not!" lol!!!! Also saw Buzz Light-year - believe it or not : ) ok he was a balloon but it still made me miss my little brother : )

K- The Samosa here is not like the kind I would get in Samoa or Tonga.... total let down : (

S- This is cow tongue! Soo yummy its like a flaky biscuit with jelly inside! I'm not sure what the jelly is their afraid to tell me :)

Doors

Ok.... so I've started taking pictures of doors again like I did in Jerusalem... don't judge me : ) These ones are really cool because they are decorated for Chinese New Year. There are a lot of similarity's between Chinese New Year and the Passover... go figure... Heres a blog link that explains it a little: http://chinahopelive.net/2008/02/08/chinese-new-year-a-passover

Night Market Taichung

K-You have no idea what crowded is until you've been to a Night Market during a major holiday. I'm telling you : )

K- Mom I thought you might find this display of fake eyelashes funny : ) They are a big hit here

Do you know the fan man?

K- These are pictures of Elders who went to this man who paints art on fans (they are beautiful). The missionaries bring him pictures of temples to put on the fans and so he has a whole stack of temples in a zip-lock that he pulls out if he knows your Mormon : ) Would have gotten you one mom but they were a little WAY out of the price range : )

2 Juice Cans

S- Maggie taught me the best game ever! It reminds me of the game you play when you go to a bowling alley and have to get balls through a tube. This game you have a paddle and you have to smack a marble hard enough that it goes up and down through the dots and in to the right row.. ok it's kind of like checkers its soo fun!

S- First time player and 2 juice can winner.. Look at me and my Chinese skills :)
K- Shanae could not have been happier to have been wearing her face mask the whole time, she really felt like a local : )

Dignity always dignity

Maggie and me getting eaten by the monster :)

Big Buddah, Big Buddah

K-Taichung train station... later we got back to Hualien and realized that people take pictures outside our train station... we should do that : )
S- I love Maggie Wu so glad we were able to come and visit Taichung with her! She is amazing she was our fearless leader the entire trip she let us stay with her at her mom's house and she showed us all the beauties of Taichung!

S- Chinese people are so cute! They don't know a lot of English but for common phrases so it totally took me by surprise when after I paid for my meal the girl behind the counter said I know good english good by I love you :)

K -Many types of eggs sold as food you eat while walking.... Don't know how you'd eat those ostrich eggs gracefully : ) and a man playing the Chinese Violin
K- Have I taken a billion pictures of squid or what? It still looks cool to me : ) This type is seasoned and drying. Who likes their squid crispy? : )
S- More fabulous monsters!!
Buddah!!!

S- Shanae going where no other Cook has ever gone before... Inside Buddah :)

K-Once inside Buddah you see depictions from his life - its really interesting how his story is similar to Joseph Smiths... minus some major details...

One of the elephants that guards the temple behind big Buddah
Kaley and Maggie in front of the Buddah temple
Buddah overlooking the city
Me and my chinese-iness :)
K- She loves taking pictures like this : ) Natural born tourist I tell you : )

K- You're thinking Mulan right? That part when Mushu takes the fireworks to the top of the building?? : )

Buddah and I are tight I'm thinking if he could only convert maybe we could be friends :)

This amazing thing that I am holding is a candy covered pear nummy!!
